Gaynor Cup action set to get underway at University of Limerick with huge Limerick interest

The Limerick Desmond Squad for this year's Gaynor Cup

THE University of Limerick will be a hive of activity this week as 26 different leagues from across the country compete in this year's Gaynor Cup, which begins later on today, Bank Holiday Monday.

Three different Limerick teams will compete in the prestigious girls competition which takes place from Monday, June 3
and concludes on Friday, June 7. 

Following the group stages, teams will either compete in a Cup, Plate, Bowl, Shield or Trophy competition, which will be
determined by their group standings.

The final Limerick team competing in the Gaynor Cup this year are the Limerick Desmond side who will take on Midlands, Kilkenny and Cavan Monaghan in Group 4.

They start their campaign with an opening round game against Cavan Monaghan at 4pm on Monday, June 3 followed by two games on Tuesday against Kilkenny at 10am and finally against Midlands.

Limerick District pictured above will compete against Mayo, Waterford and NERL in group two of the Cup. District will take on Mayo in their opening group game on Monday at 4pm on Pitch 4, followed by their second group game against Waterford on Tuesday, June 4 at 10am. 

Their final game of group two will take place later Tuesday evening at 4pm against NERL.

Up next is the Limerick County team who will compete in group one at this year's Gaynor Cup alongside Carlow and District, Kildare DUL and South Belfast.

Carlow and District are Limerick County teams first opposition on Monday at 4pm followed the next morning by Kildare DUL. Their final group game will take place at 4pm that same Tuesday against South Belfast.
