SHANNON RFC recorded a vital bonus point All-Ireland League Division 1A victory over Lansdowne in Dublin on Saturday in their re-arranged fixture.
Seventh-placed Shannon, who had suffered a heavy defeat to local rivals Young Munster in their previous outing, claimed a deserved 41-31 win over hosts Lansdowne to move up the top flight table.
The Parish side, who led 24-7 after 31 minutes, trailed 24-31 some 12 minutes into the second half on the back pitch at the Aviva Stadium. However, a strong finish saw the visitors claim a precious five-point haul from the game.
Shannon now sit two points clear of the relegation zone in the AIL 1A table. Shannon's next outing in the league is their return fixture with Lansdowne at Coonagh on Saturday, January 14.
Last Saturday's fixture was the first meeting between Shannon and Lansdowne in the Energia All-Ireland League since February 2019.
Ireland Under-19 international Josh Costello and Harry Long featured in the Shannon back-line, with Odhran Ring slotting in at number 8.
The Shannon side also featured Ethan Coughlan, Darragh McSweeney and Kieran Ryan.
