A LARGE crowd of farmers attended a solar information evening hosted by Clare and Limerick IFA to learn how solar energy can benefit their farms, both environmentally and financially.
The event took place on the farm of Tom Lane, Quinpool, Parteen, County Clare.
Guest speaker Peter Clarke, IFA and Bord Gáis Energy Solar, outlined how rooftop solar can reduce energy bills, lower emissions, and contribute to farm sustainability. He explained how solar can be integrated into farm operations, including dairy, tillage, and mixed enterprises.
Christina Ngo from Bord Gáis Energy provided details on the cutting-edge technology used to deliver tailored rooftop solar projects and presented case studies of successful installations nationwide.
The evening also provide details on the TAMS solar grant, which supports farmers' investments in solar. Under TAMS, eligible farmers can receive up to 60% grant aid for solar PV installation costs, helping to significantly reduce upfront expenses.
Clare IFA chairman, Stephen Walsh said it was a valuable opportunity for farmers to get clear, practical advice on going solar.
"With the financial support available under TAMS and high energy costs, there’s never been a better time to consider investing in rooftop solar,” said Mr Walsh.
