PICTURES: Joyous scenes in Doon as fans celebrate first ever Limerick senior hurling title

Were you one of those who descended on Doon after their famous victory over Na Piarsaigh?

DOON was the place to be on Sunday night with fireworks lighting up the sky and their triumphant hurlers lighting up faces.

The John Daly Cup was in the parish for the first time ever after Doon's historic defeat of Na Piarsaigh in the Limerick SHC final.

The streets were thronged with young and old as their heroes paraded their new silverware through the village on the back of a lorry. The dry and balms conditions were in stark contrast to the sodden Gaelic Grounds earlier that afternoon.

Captain Darragh O'Donovan lifted the cup to tumultuous cheers of joy from supporters. Tears were shed as many thought they would never see this day.

Photographer Brendan Gleeson headed out to Doon to capture the electric atmosphere with his camera.

It is a night, and early hours of the morning, that won't be forgotten in a hurry.
