THE IRISH OPEN will be held at the South Court Hotel in Limerick City from Saturday, October 25 2025 to Bank Holiday Monday, October 27 2025. 

The three-move restriction tournament will be played over eight rounds, with three sections, Masters, Seniors, and Intermediates.

Any men or women wishing to participate in any of The Masters, Seniors or Intermediate championship events are actively encouraged to call to the South Court Hotel and sign up on the morning. All players, new or existing members, are cordially welcomed by The Irish Draughts Association into the draughts fraternity.

Each player will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to play both games in a round.  There will be time increments of 10 seconds for each move.

In addition to the three-day competition, there will also be a one-day Irish Children’s Tournament played at the same venue on Saturday, 25 October 2025.  Entries for the children’s competition will be taken from 10.30 am, and play will get under way at 11am. 

There will be six rounds of play on the Swiss system, with one game per round. There will be a break for lunch after three rounds. Prize and trophy ceremonies for the different age categories to follow the end of play.

The schedule for the weekend's festivities is as follows:

Saturday will see the taking of entries at 9.30am followed by the opening ceremony at 10am. Round one will follow soon after with round two at 2pm and round three at 6pm.

Sunday will see round four begin at 9.30am followed by round five at 1.30pm and round six at 5.30pm. The Annual General Meeting of the IDA will commence at 9pm.

Monday will see round seven begin at 9.30am followed by round eight at 1.30pm. The prize ceremony will commence at 5pm.
