Róisín Ní Riain won a bronze medal in the SM13 200m IM final at the Toyota World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore on Saturday
LIMERICK swimmer Róisín Ní Riain has won a stunning fifth medal at the Para Swimming World Championships in Singapore on Saturday.
Drombanna woman Ní Riain claimed bronze in the SM13 200m IM on the final day of the championship touching the wall in a time of 2:29.75 at the
UL student Ní Riain had already pocketed silver medals from the 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 400m Freestyle S13 finals, as well a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly.
Second at the 50m mark to Italian Carlotta Gilli, it was Olivia Chambers of the USA that made her move to the front. She won the race in a time 2:25.83, with Gilli taking silver and Ní Riain third.

Speaking after the final about her five medal haul, Ní Riain said: “To be honest that was my goal coming here, not a goal that I obviously told anyone but you know what I wanted to achieve coming here. The time there wasn’t the best but I suppose it’s just about learning to race all these events at a major like this.”
Ní Riain is a Double Paralympic medallist from Paris 2024 and was competing in five events in Singapore this week.
The championships featured more than 600 athletes from over 60 nations and is being hosted in Asia for the first time.
Ireland were represented by five swimmers who bring together a strong mix of international medal experience and emerging talent.
