Though I am a proud Limerick woman through and through, I do love a night out in the big city

What a night in the big smoke!

I had the most fabulous evening up in Dublin this Tuesday for what turned out to be an amazing event.

I was honoured to be invited by Nicky Logue, general manager of the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, to host a book signing event for my memoir, Glamour & Grit.

Though I am a proud Limerick woman through and through, I do love a night out in the big city.

I have so many amazing memories from events in Dublin through the years and – as we all know – I do love an excuse to get all dolled up. So I was only delighted to accept the invitation to host an event in such a stunning location.

The guest list was full of all the very best Irish stars, from actress Rosalind Lipsett to social media influencer Louise Cooney.

Former producer of Ireland AM, Debbie O’Donnell, fashion editor Bairbre Power, founder of Ireland Fashion Week, Ashley McDonnell, television’s own Mary Kennedy, and charity patron Miriam Ahern, former partner of Bertie Ahern, were also given exclusive invitations.

Of course, there was a tremendous amount of support from the Limerick cohort, including presenter Muireann O’Connell, model Martina Costelloe, jeweller Tadhg Kearney, broadcaster Deric Hartigan, and many more of my friends and colleagues from throughout my career.

I find it hard to articulate how joyous of an occasion it was to be surrounded by so many of Ireland’s best and brightest in celebration of something that I am so proud of.

Glamour & Grit was truly a labour of love, blood, sweat and tears.

I first launched the book in December, commemorating 60 years of my work in the fashion industry – as well as marking my 75th birthday!

The 240 pages detail the decades of my life, and feature glorious pictures from my modelling days. And of course, it’s full of plenty of tips and tricks for women on posture, how to dress for your body shape, and much more.

So many people helped me put it together, and I am so grateful for the amount of support I have received throughout the whole process, especially from the book’s publisher, Michael Mulcahy.

I truly have been so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people throughout my time in the industry.

Though I do love looking back at my career in fashion, I am by no means slowing down!

There is nothing I love more than keeping busy, and with the National Ploughing Championships coming up next week, there is plenty for me to do.

Until next time, XxCelia
