Emergency services dealing with ‘serious incident’ in Co Tyrone

Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident in Co Tyrone.

Police and ambulance have attended the Lisnahull area of Dungannon.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said they received a 999 call shortly after 8pm on Thursday following reports of an incident in the Corrainey Park area.

The spokesperson said: “NIAS dispatched one rapid response paramedic, two emergency crews and an advanced paramedic to the incident.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no patients were taken to hospital.”

The PSNI has been contacted for comment.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Deirdre Varsani described it as a “very serious incident”.

She said: “A large area has been cordoned off. There are multiple police cars here, there are still ambulances here.

“It is a very serious incident.

“It is upsetting for people here. This is such a tight-knit area and it does impact on a lot of people and unnerves a lot of people as well.

“Everybody is very concerned but there has been a very high level of co-operation with the emergency services.

“People are just shocked. Everybody knows someone who lives here.

“The emergency services response has been exemplary.”

SDLP Mid Ulster councillor Malachy Quinn posted on social media: “Sad news coming out of Dungannon tonight.

“I would urge people to avoid the area tonight.”
