Holy relics of St Therese to visit Limerick

PREPARATIONS are underway for the visit of the relics of St Therese of Lisieux to the city later this week.

PREPARATIONS are underway for the visit of the relics of St Therese of Lisieux to the city later this week.

The relics will be received at St Joseph’s Church at 4pm on Sunday, September 30 with a liturgy of welcome and will be available for veneration before and after Mass at 5.30pm.

The evening will conclude with vespers and benedictions at 8pm.

Mass for the Feast day of Monday October 1, will be celebrated at 10.30am and will coincide with the anniversary of the visit of Pope John Paul II to Greenpark racecourse which is within the parish boundaries.

The relics, also known as the “Little flower” has for many years had a special connection to St Joseph’s Church and a big crowd is expected to attend.

Fr Willie Moran OCD, Prior of the Carmelite Community at Loughrea, Co Galway will lead the celebrations.
