The Limerick Leader’s Colm Ward reports that there was a huge cheer at the Limerick count centre as the final three candidates were elected to Limerick City and County Council on the third day of the count.
Cllr Kevin Sheahan (FF), Richard O’Donoghue (FF) & Ciara McMahon (SF) were all elected following Count 8 in Adare/Rathkeale without reaching the quota. Cllr Rose Brennan (FG) lost her seat by 152 votes.
With all 40 seats now filled on Limerick City and County Council, the final state of the parties is FF-13; FG-12; SF-6; Lab-3; AAA-3; Ind-3

Cllr Patrick C Fitzgerald has lost his seat after a recount in Adare/Rathkeale, which was requested following the seventh count, did not result in any material change.
That had Mr Fitzgerald (Ind) trailing Cllr Rose Brennan (FG) by just ten votes. He has now been eliminated and his 1,146 votes are being distributed.
With 37 of the 40 seats now filled on Limerick City and County Council, the state of the parties is FF-11; FG-12; SF-5; Lab-3; AAA-3; Ind-3

There is still no news from the recount in Adare/Rathkeale, which has been underway for more than two hours.
Director of sport and recreation at UL, Dave Mahedy, says he’s concerned about how long it is taking to complete. “I’m getting worried we’ve 2 hrs to have count finished ready for Body Pump, Track Attack, TRX & Richie Oh man,” he tweeted.

The recount in the Adare/Rathkeale electoral area has been ongoing for an hour or so with no indication yet as to when the outcome will be known.

The Limerick Leader’s Nick Rabbitts reports that Brian Crowley (FF) has been elected as an MEP after topping the poll in the Ireland South constituency.
Mr Crowley secured 180,339 first preference votes, almost 50,000 above the quota. His surplus is now being distributed.

The Limerick Leader’s Colm Ward reports that with just 10 votes separating the two lowest candidates in the Adare/Rathkeale area Cllr Patrick C Fitzgerald has called for a full recount.
Mr Fitzgerald was eliminated following the seventh count, which saw finish him with 1,146 votes, compared to Rose Brennan’s 1,156.
However, shortly afterwards, Mr Fitzgerald called for a full recount.
The count has been adjourned for 30 minutes at which point the recount will begin.

There are just six votes separating Cllr Patrick C Fitzgerald (1,144) and Cllr Rose Brennan (1,138) following Count 6 in Adare/Rathkeale. Stephen Keary’s surplus of 38 votes is now being distrbuted.

No candidate has been elected following Count 5 in Adare/Rathkeale. James Cavanagh (FF) has been eliminated and his 891 votes are now being distributed.

No candidate has been elected following Count 4 in Adare/Rathkeale. Seamus Sheahan (FF) has been eliminated and his 772 votes are now being distributed.
