Joe Duffy delivers emotional words to new Liveline host on RTE Late Late Show

Joe Duffy, ex-Liveline show host, was on The Late Late Show recently to give a heart-warming message and words of wisdom to his new replacement.

Kieran Cuddihyn is set to take Joe Duffy's seat as host of RTE's Liveline following his retirement earlier this year.

In a surprise call on the show, Joe Duffy gave a final message to his replacement that pleasantly surprised Kieran ahead of the start of his new career.

Joe Duffy said: "Kieran...don't talk to Joe now just listen to Joe....will you please just listen to Joe....remember the first 27 years are the hardest...

"If the phone isn't ringing you're doing something wrong and if it is ringing you're doing something really wrong!

"You are brilliant...I've heard great feedback already from my ex-colleague's in RTE about your enthusiasm, your ability, your intelligence and by the way your good looks and that is just from the fellas....the women think you are gorgeous as well...

"So best of look auld pal you will be brilliant and in the great tradition of Gay Byrne, Pat Kenny, Marian....the great great broadcasters break a leg auld pal.....break a leg!".
