Irish police are “not looking for anybody” following the deaths of a man and a young girl in Dublin.
Gardai discovered the bodies of the pair in a property in the Heathfield estate in the Cappagh area of Finglas on Saturday.
A Garda spokesperson said they are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the two bodies.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan said gardai “aren’t looking for anyone else in respect of that event”.
He said he wanted to extend his condolences to the mother of the young girl.
Speaking to media on Monday, he said: “It’s an extremely difficult time for her.”
In a statement on Monday evening, gardai said post-mortem examinations have been completed for both the adult male and female child, but the results of these are not being released for operational reasons.
“A family liaison officer (FLO) continues to engage with the family of the deceased and keep them apprised of the investigation,” they said.
“An Garda Siochana would like to acknowledge the support and assistance provided by the local community both to the family of the deceased and to investigating Gardai.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
