A community has been “shocked to its core” after two bodies were discovered in a house in Co Dublin, according to a local councillor.
Gardai discovered the bodies of a young girl and a man in a property in the Heathfield estate in the Cappagh area of Finglas on Saturday.
Ballymun-Finglas councillor Conor Reddy sent his condolences to the loved ones of those involved.
He said: “It’s so tragic for the community. The neighbourhood is shocked to its core. My condolences to the family and loved ones.”
An investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the man and the female child.
On Sunday, a large gardai presence was seen outside the property within the housing estate, including plain-clothed detectives and forensic officers.
One officer was spotted carrying large bolt cutters into the house on Sunday morning, as various bags were removed by forensics.
A gardai spokesperson said: “The coroner has been notified and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
“Post-mortem examinations will be arranged in due course.
“The results of these examinations will assist gardai in determining the course of the investigation.”
