SSE Airtricity has announced it is increasing its standard variable electricity prices by 9.5% from next month
SSE Airtricity has announced it is increasing its standard variable electricity prices for Irish customers by 9.5% from next month, the change means an extra €150 annually for the average household.
The news comes as earlier this month Bord Gáis Energy, Energia, and Pinergy all announced similar price increases for their electricity customers.

This new price increase is the companies second price increase of 2025 as they increased rates by 10.5% and gas prices by 8.4% in April. These two increases mean that their 460,000 Irish customers will see a 20 per cent increase in their bill versus last year.
The increased rates are due to take effect from Monday October 20, however gas customers are not included in the price increase.
The announcement comes at a time when many households across Ireland are still struggling with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, as rising utility bills continue to put pressure on family finances.
SSE Airtricity has said the latest price increase is due to an increase in network and system operator charges, with a spokesperson for the company also saying it is due to “ongoing wholesale volatility and higher cost of doing business.”
