Jacinta was diagnosed with skin cancer when she was 38 years old
The HSE have issued a warning along with the story of an Irish woman diagnosed with skin cancer to warn people ahead of the extreme heat set to hit the country.
We will see temperatures of up to 29 degrees which has the potential to cause extreme sun burns and heat stroke if people are not careful.
A middle aged Irish woman named Jacinta has shared her story of being diagnosed with skin cancer and warns people to be vigilant during these times.
"I was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer when I was 38," she said. "While I feel that I was quite safe sun....I know that in my early 20s I was at many festivals and concerts and days out where I probably wasn't as good as I should be at applying sunscreen".
Jacinta has had three surgeries, targeted treatment, immunotherapy and radiotherapy since being diagnosed with skin cancer.
"While you're young you think you're invincible and you don't think it's ever going to be you".

"You don't need to have prolonged exposure to the sun to get skin cancer...sit in the shade where possible...cover up with clothing and apply sun screen on exposed skin to protect yourself....even when you think it may be overcast."
“You don’t need to have prolonged exposure to the sun to get skin cancer. It’s so important to sit in the shade where possible, cover up with clothing and apply sunscreen on exposed skin to protect yourself, even when you think it may be overcast.”
