National forecaster Met Éireann have issued their predictions for the week ahead and it's not all bad

A mixed bag of mist and rain in the week ahead but there will still be signs of spring

A mixed bag of sunny spells and scattered showers is expected for the week ahead with temperatures ranging from 0 to 14 degrees.

Met Éireann's forecast starting with today, Sunday, March 23 is that tonight will be mostly dry and cold with long clear spells. Some patches of mist may develop in light northwest breezes. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.

Monday, March 24 is expected to be mainly dry with bright, sunny spells. Cloud will build from the northwest in the afternoon with outbreaks of light rain or drizzle following in the evening. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light northwest breezes.

From Monday night there will be patchy rain and drizzle will spread from the northwest overnight and reaching most areas by morning. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light west to northwest breezes.

Patchy rain will continue into Tuesday morning as the there will be cloudy to start to the day with patchy light rain or drizzle. It will gradually brighten up with dry and sunny conditions developing through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light northerly breezes.

A cold and dry night will follow with long clear spells at first but cloud will build from the west by morning. Patches of mist and fog will form in light southwest or variable breezes. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees.

Wednesday morning will be misty and foggy but both will slowly clear throughout the morning and after a dry start, cloud and patchy drizzle will spread from the west. More persistent rain will move into the northwest later in the day.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

On Wednesday night, there will be outbreaks of rain spreading southeastwards over the country. A clearance will follow into the northwest later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Thursday will be a generally cloudy day with a few patches of light rain or drizzle. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds.
