A GoFundMe page set up to support the family of Louise Donnelly who remains in critical condition following a serious accident at the end of February has surpassed its target within just three days of being created.

Louise, a young mother of two, was involved in a road traffic collision on Monday, 24 February at Balliniry Cross on the New Line Road in Wexford. Louise suffered multiple severe injuries in the accident and has since been receiving treatment in Intensive Care at Beaumont Hospital Dublin.

As Louise remains in very critical condition, her family are unsure of her prognosis and say that "things are changing hourly."

Louise's cousin Tara Boland set up the fundraiser to help raise money towards supporting Louise and her family during this incredibly challenging time.

Tara states on the fundraiser's website: "As you all can imagine, this has had a devastating impact on Louise's immediate and extended family, her children and everyone who loves her. I would like to raise some money to support Louise's children and family through this difficult time and ease any financial burden or worries to some degree.

"As of now, we are unsure of the likely outcome regarding Louise's health and hopeful recovery, but aim to keep this page updated with any relevant changes over the coming days. Any donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will be used specifically toward Louise's family, children and supporting her recovery throughout this process."

So far, €13,760 has been raised since the page was set up three days ago. The original target was just €5,000.

The overwhelming response has been greatly appreciated by Louise's family as Tara shared an update to say: "It’s truly incredible what has been achieved and the impact those funds will have for them in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead."

She concluded: "On behalf of her family and from the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much."
