Funeral arrangements announced for 'lovely' man murdered on New Year's Eve

The father of three was found unresponsive in his home and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

58-year-old John 'King' O'Connor originally came from Cluain Fada in the town of New Ross.

The funeral arrangements for the man who was found dead at his home in Wexford have been announced. 

58-year-old John 'King' O'Connor originally came from Cluain Fada in the town of New Ross. The father of three was found unresponsive in his home on Tuesday, December 31, and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

This subsequently saw a murder investigation launched, in which a man in his 30s has been charged in connection with the death at a special sitting of Wexford District Court, which took place on Thursday, January 2. 

Mr O Connor's RIP.ie page read, "Predeceased by his loving mother Nancy. Sadly missed by his loving children Chloe, Aaron and Kaylee, father Ned, brother Eddie, sisters Triona, Deirdre and Paula, grandchildren Freya-Rose, Paddy and Carson-Jax, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, extended family and a large circle of friends."

Many friends and well wishers took to the site to offer their condolences.

One commenter said, "Condolences to all of the O'Connor family at this really difficult time. John was a lovely man who always had time to chat. He will be missed."

A second person said, "My most heartfelt condolences to the O Connor family on the very sad passing of John, I have lovely memories of John, I will miss our chats when we met in the graveyard most days, may his gentle soul rest peacefully."

While a third said, "Sending my heart felt condolences to John's dad Ned, his sisters Triona, Deirdre, Paula and brother Eddie and all his family and friends, may John rest in gentle peace in the arms of the angels, I'm so sorry for all your loss, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time, rest in peace King may you get the best bed in heaven and rest in eternal peace amen."

The grandfather of three will be reposing at Cooney's Funeral Home (Y34 FK44) on Saturday, January 4 from 4pm-7pm. Removal will take place on Sunday, January 5, at 11:30am to St Stephen's Cemetery for burial, upon arrival at 12pm.
