'Incredibly lucky' motorist arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following Dublin crash

Photographs posted on social media show the blue Volkswagen car was significantly damaged in the impact.

The driver of a car which was involved in a serious crash just before Christmas was "incredibly lucky" not to have sustained serious injuries, gardai have said.

Highlighting the incident which happened in Finglas, Dublin earlier this week, they say the motorist was subsequently found to be twice the legal alcohol limit.

Photographs posted on social media show the blue Volkswagen car was significantly damaged in the impact.

"This motorist was incredibly lucky to escape this collision unhurt. They were found to be over twice the legal alcohol limit and were arrested. Please drive safely this Christmas," read the post on X, formerly Twitter, which has been viewed more than 40,000 times.
