The National Lottery highlights "the extremes lottery winners have gone to hide their life changing tickets" with its top 10 most unusual hiding places list.

The update comes as the "highly anticipated" Millionaire Raffle will take place on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday 31st December, and will give away an incredible 8,500 cash prizes, so there will be lots of winning tickets around.

As well as the top prize of €1 million, there are 6 prizes of €100,000, 15 prizes of €10,000, 45 prizes of €5,000, 302 prizes of €1,000 and 8,131 prizes of €500.

Tickets are limited, with only 600,000 available, and cost €25 each. They are on sale now at National Lottery retail agents nationwide, online at www.lottery.ie, and through the National Lottery app. Players should be aware that the Christmas Millionaire Raffle has sold out for the past four years, so securing a ticket early is advised.

National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Ruane added: “We are reminding our players and everyone hoping to spread the festive cheer with our Christmas games, to support our ‘Gift Responsibly’ campaign when purchasing any National Lottery product as a gift. National Lottery products are strictly for those who are aged 18 years and over and we encourage all of our players to gift responsibly, not only at Christmas but at any time of the year”.

According to the National Lottery, nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language.

In 2023 alone, €227.9m million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
