A young Irish tourist is recovering after a teenage boy allegedly sexually assaulted her and stole a valuable €8,000 watch from her wrist.
The 26 year-old tourist, who was on holiday in northern Italy with her sister and some friends, was returning from a night out in Milano Marittima on Wednesday, August 21 when the incident occurred.
It is alleged by Italian media that the woman was followed after leaving a nightclub in Milano Marittima where she had spent the evening by an 18 year-old man, who then sexually assaulted her before stealing her watch.
The accused has already admitted robbing the watch from the victim who was holidaying in northern Italy – but denies sexually assaulting the woman.
The man, who has no previous convictions and reportedly comes from a well-off family, told police that he’s ‘addicted to Rolex’ and has a Rolex tattooed on his wrist, according to the Irish Mirror.
The stolen watch was later returned to the Irish tourist, who was hospitalised for several days following the incident.
The man spent the day in custody before being released on bail following a court hearing on Thursday (August 22), and is due back in court in October.
