According to the An Garda Síochána social media page, Clare's Roads Policing Unit received an Automatic Number Plate Recognition alert for an uninsured car.
The insurance database revealed that the policy had been cancelled and consequently, the car was seized.
Additionally, the driver failed a roadside drugs test and was arrested.
Court proceedings are to follow.
