Man rushed to hospital after being removed from Shannon to Boston flight

A MAN was taken to the hospital after an incident took place on a flight from Shannon to Boston earlier today.

Gardaí are investigating an incident which occurred earlier today at Shannon Airport in Clare. 

A flight bound for Boston returned to Shannon airport, due to an incident involving a man who was removed from the flight.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí told Limerick Live: "After disembarking from an aircraft, a man (50s) was taken to receive treatment at Ennis General Hospital."

The AerLingus flight, EI135, departed at 2.40pm from Shannon and returned at 5.20pm. The flight then took off at 7.40pm this evening.

Gardaí confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
