A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a fatal road collision in County Kerry.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a van, which occurred at Moyvane North, Listowel at approximately 7pm on Saturday.
The driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He was the third person to died on Irish roads in less than 24 hours following fatal collisions in Limerick and Louth on Friday night and in the early hours of Saturday morning respectively.
According to gardai in Kerry, the driver of the van, a male in his 70s was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The scene of the collision is preserved while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination. The road is currently closed.
Gardaí in Listowel are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who were travelling in the area of Moyvane North, Listowel between 6.15pm and 7.15pm on Saturday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this available.
