Motorists warned of potentially dangerous conditions as rainfall hits 10 counties

A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for ten counties. 

According to Met Éireann, the warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Waterford, Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.

Spells of heavy rain accompanied by strong and gusty winds can be expected, with highest rain accumulations on hills and mountains. 

Potential impacts include localised flooding, poor visibility, and travel disruption. 

Rain will affect Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo up until 8pm tonight (September 24), while other counties will see rainfall until 6pm.
