BREAKING: Irish dad and young son killed in holiday car crash in Turkey

A father and his young son from Laois have died in an accident while on a holiday in Turkey.

It is understood that the father and child are from Portlaoise, and were involved in a fatal road traffic incident.

They were on a holiday with the man's partner from Mountmellick and two other children who were not involved in the crash.  

It took place on Monday, July 17.

It is understood that the little boy was his youngest son, believed to be aged under 10. 

The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement to the Leinster Express / Laois Live. 

"The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of any specific case," said the Department.
