Martin King, supporting this year's IHF Camino Challenge
ONE WELL known TV presenter is calling on the public to take on a 114km walk challenge.
Martin King, radio broadcaster and Ireland AM co-host is urging the public to take part in the French Camino Challenge for the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF). Martin, who is supporting the IHF initiative, says he is ‘delighted’ to do so.
The five day walking challenge will take place from September 8 to 15, across the Pyrenees mountain range, from residential area Saint Jean Pied de Port to mediaeval town, Estella.
National charity IHF is a non-profit organisation which addresses dying, death and bereavement and is hosting the five day event, to raise ‘vital’ funds. This will be their fifth year of hosting a Camino Challenge.
The route chosen by the charity to conquer is the first stage of the French Camino, and IHF promises an “unforgettable week”. Thanking all past participants, Helen McVeigh, Director of Fundraising at IHF looks forward to welcoming this year’s walkers.
“This year, I am very excited to be launching our fifth Camino walk, which for the first time is taking on the initial stage - following in the footsteps of walkers over the centuries,” Helen said.
“This is your chance to make every step matter for families facing their final times together and for those coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
“We will look after you, your luggage, flights, accommodation and meals so you can focus on walking with our experienced guides.”
