Gardaí appeal for information as man dies in early morning crash in Offaly

A man has died in a crash in Co Offaly.

The single-car crash occurred on the R421 near Clonagh East outside Tullamore between 5am and 5.30am on Saturday.

The sole occupant of the car involved, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours, with local diversions in place.

Forensic collision investigators were requested at the scene.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
