Classical feast for the senses in Limerick concert series

The concerts all take place on Sunday afternoons

Paul Grennan will perform in UCH with the Ora Quartet

THERE is an impressive line-up of concerts for music lovers at University Concert Hall this spring. 

The Limerick Classical Concert Series is one that is much-anticipated in the calendar of classical music fans and this year's schedule will not disappoint.

Chamber musicians, pianists and opera recitals will all feature. 

The Sunday afternoon performances  are presented by Liz Nolan of RTE Lyric FM.

The season kicks off on March 1 with the final performance of the season taking place on May 2.

On Sunday, March 1 at 3.30pm, join the Ora Quartet with Paul Grennan on cello.

Then, on March 22 at 3.30pm, there will be a dynamic recital featuring Sinéad Farrell on flute, Fiachra Garvey on piano and Katie Tertell on cello. 

On April 19, there will be a concert of love, loss and laughter. This recital from the Irish National Opera Studio spans comedy, tragedy and everything in between. 

It will be performed by soprano Laura Aherne, mezzo-soprano Heather Sammon, mezzo-soprano Olha Palazhchenko, baritone David Kennedy and répétiteur Doireann O'Connell. 

On May 2, there will be music from the French stations with Finghan Collins, acclaimed pianist. This will feature the works of Pleyel, Chopin, Haydn, O'Kelly, Pfeiffer and Debussy.

The afternoon performances are all on Sundays at the time of 3.30pm in the afternoon.
