LIMERICK indie-rock group, Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets, have released their latest single titled Forgiveness is a Gun.
With over 20 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, the band is fast-rising in popularity worldwide, having a sold-out UK/Ireland tour last year, and playing in the popular SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
The single was made available on music platforms from Wednesday, July 16, and is from their upcoming EP, which will be released in October.
The single was written while the band were in Nashville, after playing SXSW, and the band had just supported The Darkness on an Irish tour.
The Limerick group are “aiming for pure communication – surging Indie-Rock that comes with a pop openness”.

Describing the new single, the band said; “Forgiveness is a Gun, is an upbeat, anthemic blend of Indie-Rock energy and Americana songwriting. The song details the story of a man facing imposter syndrome in his own relationship, as he feels like he doesn't deserve his partner. The track is filled with driving drums, catchy sax hooks, and soaring vocals, reminiscent of 70s Bruce Springsteen or The War On Drugs - if they decided to sound more like The 1975.”
Dylan Flynn added “I spent some time in Nashville earlier this year, and this song was written while I was there. It was my first experience co-writing, and it made me realise that sometimes you just need to say exactly what you're feeling. I still think there is a time and place for placing lyrics in a poetic world - but with this one, I wanted to be very direct.”
The track was recorded and self-produced in the band's small home studio in Limerick City, with long term collaborator Mike Gavin (Windings). Mike co-produced and mixed the track, while Richard Dowling (Foo Fighters, Brian Eno, Villagers) mastered it.
