Up and coming Limerick band set to play first headline show

Theatre will perform at Pharmacia in Limerick city this Saturday

THEATRE, a five-piece post-punk band based in Limerick, will be headlining their first independent headline gig in Limerick city this weekend.

The band, who will perform at Phamacia on Saturday, will be supported by Limerick solo artist Shroomie, who recently performed at the people before the Socialist party’s event ‘This Music Kills Fascism’ last April with his acoustic mix of funk and punk. They will also be joined by the Dublin indie-rock three-piece, Ten Hail Marys.

Theatre have been seeing success on the gigging scene since their formation less than a year ago; playing sets in Dolans Limerick last April and an outdoor show in Stables Club UL with over 300 in attendance.

Formed at the end of 2022, the band describes themselves as having a new and unique musical sound, blending genres such as folk and new-wave and citing influence from The Cure and The Pogues.

Speaking ahead of the gig, guitarist Dara Gooney told Limerick Live: “We think the music very much has its own unique sound and could be the start of something big."

The gig will be followed by a DJ afterparty at 11:30
