MUNSTER Rugby recorded a precious 26-10 bonus point victory over the Ospreys in the United Rugby Championship at the Dunraven Brewery Field on Saturday evening.

Munster scored four tries in securing their sixth win in seven United Rugby Championship fixtures this season.

The result sees the province move up to second place in the URC table, three points behind pace-setters, the DHL Stormers.

The victory is also a timely boost for Munster ahead of their mammoth URC interprovincial derby meeting with Leinster at a sold-out Leinster at Thomond Park on Saturday, December 27, 7.45pm.

Clayton McMillan's Munster side laid the foundation for this win over the Ospreys in the opening half after which they held a significant 19-3 advantage.

Munster, who had their five-game winning start to the URC season ended by the Stormers last time out, managed three first half tries through winger Shane Daly, hooker Lee Barron and Jack Crowley who contributed 11 points in all.

Full-back Mike Haley scored the bonus point through after the restart. Dan Edwards' kicked an early penalty for the Ospreys while Morgan Morris struck for a second half try for the home side.

Munster Rugby have lost just one of their last 15 meetings with the Ospreys, an 18-10 reverse at Swansea.com Stadium in October 2021

The Welsh region are without a win in their last four BKT United Rugby Championship matches since their 24-0 victory over Zebre in Round 3.

This was just Munster's second visit to the Brewery Field once before following their 16-12 EPCR Champions Cup victory against Bridgend in October 2001.
