AN Independent Disciplinary Panel will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2, to consider an appeal by Munster Rugby’s Alex Nankivell to the red card he received during his team’s Round 14 BKT United Rugby Championship fixture with Connacht Rugby at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar on Saturday last.

Nankivell was shown a red card by referee Craig Evans (WRU) in the 26th minute of the game for foul play covered by Law 9.20a – A player must not charge into a ruck or maul. Charging includes any contact made without binding onto another player in the ruck or maul.

New Zealander Nankivell was sent off after making head contact with Connacht captain Cian Prendergast at a ruck.

The Independent Disciplinary Panel appointed will be chaired by John Kirk (Scotland) with Stefan Terblanche and Neil Snellenburg (both South Africa) completing the three-person panel.

Munster are set to face Ronan O'Gara's La Rochelle side in a glamour Investec Champions Cup last 16 clash in France this Saturday, 5.30pm, Irish time, live on Premier Sport TV.
