MUNSTER have some mixed injury news ahead of Saturday's fixture with New Zealand heavyweights the Crusaders at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

In a squad update released this afternoon, the province have revealed that John Hodnett will be out for eight to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery for an injured finger.

Munster also revealed that Simon Zebo will miss the game after he got an MRI on a knee injury last week. Zebo will see a specialist next week for review.

Tom Ahern is following the return to play protocols and his availability will be determined later in the week, while Paddy Patterson has undergone knee surgery and is out for the rest of the season. In better injury news, Mike Haley has returned to full training in recent days.

Munster have also revealed that scrum-half Neil Cronin has signed a two-month extension that sees him remain at the province until the end of March. Cronin has made 38 appearances for Munster since joining in 2018.

UCC scrum-half Andrew O'Mahony has also penned a short term deal with Munster. The former Irish U20 international played for Munster's A side against Connacht earlier in the season.
