THERE HAS been a lot of talk about the GAA calendar being shortened in recent times and this year the Limerick hurlers are already heading to Croke Park - and it’s only February!
John Kiely's men take on Dublin at 5.15pm this Saturday, February 24 in a mouth-watering double header with Kerry and Dublin Gaelic football teams playing at 7.30pm.
It is a rare opportunity to see the 2023 All-Ireland hurling champions and 2023 All-Ireland football champions and runners-up at the same venue.
Limerick GAA has organised a special train to Dublin for the occasion.
Supporters will travel with the team on the service which will depart Colbert Station in the city at 11.30am / 11.45am for Heuston Station.
Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of the capital for a couple of hours before making their way to Croke Park for the 5.15pm throw-in.
The return leg of the train journey leaves Connolly Station at 9.35pm after the attendees have enjoyed seeing the likes of David Clifford and Ciarán Kilkenny in action.
It means supporters can stroll to Connolly instead of having to cross the city to get to Heuston. Both trains are direct at a cost of €60 return.

It’s not so long that Limerick struggled for years to get into the top tier of the league.
Many will recall March 11, 2018 when Kyle Hayes hit a key goal as Limerick recovered from an eight-point half-time deficit to seal promotion from Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League for the first time in eight years with victory over then All-Ireland champions Galway in Pearse Stadium.
We all know what happened later that year when Limerick claimed their first All-Ireland title in 45 years. Since then Croke Park has become like a second home and let’s hope Saturday won't be the last visit in 2024.
