A weather advisory for an Arctic airflow has been issued
Met Éireann has issued an Arctic airflow weather advisory for County Limerick.
The advisory took effect from this Friday at 2pm and remains in place until Thursday, January 19 at 12pm.
They said: "Turning cold across the country between Sunday evening and Thursday morning as an Arctic airflow becomes established, bringing sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads and footpaths."
Some showers of hail, sleet and snow are expected in Limerick with the potential for freezing fog.
Further updates to the advisory and warnings are expected in the coming days.
Tomorrow in Limerick will bring a mix of sunshine and scattered blustery showers, some heavy.
The showers will be most frequent in western coastal parts with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. Becoming windy as fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds develop.
Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, but feeling colder due to the wind chill factor.
