Dromin-Athlacca crowned Limerick IHC winners

The Limerick IHC final between Dromin-Athlacca and Knockaderry was played on Tuesday night in the Gaelic Grounds
DROMIN-ATHLACCA were crowned Limerick intermediate hurling champions this Tuesday night under the floodlights of teh Gaelic Grounds.

DROMIN-ATHLACCA were crowned Limerick intermediate hurling champions this Tuesday night under the floodlights of teh Gaelic Grounds.

The south Limerick side beat Knockaderry 2-18 to 1-15 after a terrific second half display.

They trailed 0-12 to 1-5 at half time.

But they were a changed side in the second half for manager Peter Finn, who won this title two years ago with Effin.

Dromin-Athlacca got the dream start with a David Reidy goal inside four minutes. He has previously opened the scoring and then punished some slack marking in the Knockaderry defence to goal from close range after a Oisin Liston pass across the field from the left corner.

But Knockaderry displayed much hunger in the remainder of the opening half to lead at the break.

They had six points from free-taker Mike Downes and two points each from Liam O’Sullivanand David O’Callaghan.

But wides were to prove costly and they finished with 13 in total, compared to four for the winners.

In teh second half, captain Mike Reidy inspired Dromin-Athlacca with four points from play.

They were helped on their way by an Eoin O’Leary goal just 30seconds into the second half.

The Knockaderry goal came in teh final minute from a Tom Condon penalty

But it was seven successive points midway though the second half they sealed the win for the men in blue.

They now play Tipperary’s Ballin in the Munster club championship.
