First round heats of Irish St Leger produces exciting action in Limerick

THE 2024 Willwego.com Irish St Leger got underway at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night and it produced some explosive action across eleven incredible first round heats.
On the night, it was Pat Buckley that accounted for two of the most eye-catching performances on the night as Unanimouspanther produced an outstanding performance to set the standard in heat eight, while Superfast Gorden also set tongues wagging with a dominant display in heat nine.
Overall, the first round had a bit of everything in respect of blistering times recorded by a number of outright fancies, which coincided with several shock exits in the shape of Coolavanny Otto, Seek The Kingdom and Ower Cracker to name but a few.
Unanimouspanther Sets the Bar High
Unanimouspanther, fresh from his National Produce Stakes victory at Clonmel, entered the Leger as the 4/6 favorite.
The son of Droopys Sydney and Mystical Moll didn’t disappoint. With a lightning start from trap four, he claimed the rails and powered around the bends.
Crossing the line in an impressive 29.34 seconds, Unanimouspanther left Newport Pier trailing by six lengths. His dominance signaled a fierce battle ahead in the Leger.
Superfast Gorden Dominates Heat Nine
In the following heat, Superfast Gorden continued Buckley’s winning streak. Owned by Eamonn Doyle and Mark Hatton, this former 28.09 winner displayed stamina and determination.
Gorden’s relentless pace and unwavering focus propelled him to victory. As the crowd erupted, anticipation grew for the clashes to come.
The 2024 Willwego.com Irish St. Leger promises more excitement as these greyhounds set the standard for an unforgettable competition.
