Killian Coman, of Limerick AC, wins the Boys U13 600m final at the 123.ie National Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Tullamore
National Juvenile Track & Field Championships Day 1
HELD at the home of Tullamore Harriers, the great work being done in underage athletics in Limerick continues to bear fruit.
Killian Coman, of Limerick AC, took gold in a very tight U13 600m in 1:37.83, with clubmate Rian Kiely Keogan taking bronze just over a second back. Darragh Whelan’s great season continues as he took another national gold, this time in the U14 800m, clocking 2:08:08.
Dooneen's excellent recent medal haul in ‘throws’ continued. Lavr Malejves, coached by his mother Olga, set a championship record in the Boys U13 Shot Put to win on 15.75.
On the same coaching ticket, Gyte Anrejauskatie took gold in the U14 Girls Shot Put in 12.76m. Leagh Moloney led from the start but it was a close contest as she won the U19 Long Jump with a leap of 5.39m.
She also secured third place in the 100mh. Jay Collins was second in the Boys U14 75mh in 12.22 seconds, while Dooneen clubmate Ellen Goggin was an excellent second in the U15 800m (2:12.94)
For Emerald AC, Jay Devlin was 2nd in the Boys U14 High Jump while his brother Josh was 6th in the U16 100mh.
Action continues in two weekends.
The Limerick AC trio of Alana Frataroli (Shot Put) Emer Galvin (400mh) and Aoife Ryan (400m) have qualified for the Athletics Ireland National League final on 28th July in Tullamore.

Munster Juvenile ‘B’ Track and Field Championships
Held in Templemore, Crea Moore took Gold for Limerick AC in the U12 600m. Alana Purcell was first in the U15 100m while clubmate Fionn Cunningham took Silver in the U15 800m and Bronze in the 100m.
For West Limerick, Peter Szabo took Gold in the 60m Sprint in 8.92 secs. Clubmate Jack Young also won the U12 600m while James King was 2nd in the U13 80m. Nathan
Laffan took Gold in the Boys U10 Turbo Javelin with a throw of 17.01m and his brother Nathan was best at U11 in the same event (17.50m).
Dundrum 10K
STAGED on one of the flattest routes in Munster many Limerick athletes made the short journey to North Tipperary for this prestigious event. In a very high quality field the best Limerick finisher was John ‘Toldo’ Kinsella, home in 31:03, followed closely by Declan Moore, 8th in 31:11.
Conor O’Brien, of Dooneen, was 9th in 32:43. Dymphna Ryan was 2nd woman in 35:53. The highlight arguably though was victory for Dooneen’s Alan McCutcheon in the Junior 5K in a pb time of 16:32. Clubmate Aimee Ryan clocked 20:24.
Moreabbey Milers 10 Mile
STARTED at the earlier time of 8:30 to facilitate those travelling to Croke Park, Karl Lenihan was 4th overall and 1st M40 in 55:25, Kieran O’Brien of Dooneen was 5th in 60:05. Willie O’Donoghue was 10th and first M60 in 64:04, Also Donie Dwane (Kilmallock) 1:16:30

JAMES Costello, from West Limerick, ran the Gold Coast Marathon in Queensland in an excellent time of 3:59.35
