The Crescent College Comprehensive squad
LIMERICK'S Crescent College Comprehensive suffered a 2-0 defeat to St Mary's New Ross in the FAI Schools First Year Girls National Cup Semi Final at Clonmel Celtic.
The sun was shining for the Wexford crew as a goal in each half ensured a showdown with Salerno Secondary School, Salthill in this season’s Cup decider.
New Ross captain Dearbhla Ryan opened the scoring mid-way through the first half with a looping high ball that flew high into the net.
The Saints enjoyed the slender lead at the break.
A second goal for New Ross came within 40 seconds of the re-start when Demi MURPHY used her pace to round the keeper and slot home for 2-0.
Crescent College did create a few chances as Sophie Gleeson was unlucky to see her effort float over the woodwork three minutes later.
Ellen Goggin was hugely influential for the Dooradoyle side and she had a delightful free kick that just sailed over the crossbar nine minutes from time.
Aaron Price’s crew can now look forward to a National Cup Final appearance as it’s scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 with venue to be confirmed.
