LIMERICK will be aiming to make it three wins from three in this year's Munster Senior Hurling Championship when they face Cork this Saturday evening on Leeside.

All-Ireland champions Limerick currently sit at the top of the Munster round robin table after victories against Clare and most recently Tipperary.

The clash at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh at 7pm, live on GAAGO will be a do-or-die fixture for the Rebels who have registered two disappointing defeats in Munster to date leaving them bottom in the table and struggling to qualify for the next phase of the championship.

Limerick's latest win against neighbours Tipp was another dominant display registering an impressive 2-12 in the second-half with superb off-the-bench performances from Adam English and Donnacha Ó Dálaigh highlighting the fire power of the Limerick squad.

Limerick have the ability to turm on the after burners in the second-half of games .
Speaking after the victory over Tipp, manager John Kiely said that performances at training are making his life difficult picking match-day panels” as competition for places ramps up once again now for their next game.

“We have lads playing out of their skins at training and they aren't even making the match-day squad, so there is an opportunity now for them to step up and compete for a spot over the next two weeks.

“We have a huge challenge now to go down to Cork and register more points on the board to qualify out of this group.” Last year’s meeting between the sides produced a thrilling encounter in the TUS Gaelic Grounds with the Treaty side coming away with a one-point victory, 3-25 to 1-30, in the final round of the Munster Hurling Championship.

This fixture doesn’t hold as much jeopardy for Limerick as the Rebels need to secure victory in order to harbour any ambitions of advancing in the championship.

The Shannonsiders will be without one of their star forwards, Peter Casey, after his horrific injury in the second-half of the Tipp game. It was later confirmed by Limerick GAA that Casey suffered a broken ankle that was operated on last week.
Improvements have been made to Limerick's play throughout the Munster championship campaign with those skills being shown against Tipp.

Kiely added: “We were solid at the back and we worked very hard and we used that as a platform to attack with plenty of space to do so. I thought our energy levels were way better and so was our accuracy so it was a very good improvement. I’m glad they did work well as the lads put a huge emphasis on it and it showed.”
