LIMERICK SPORT Eagles will finally play their InsureMyVan.ie semi-final playoff against Moy Tolka Rovers tomorrow, Wednesday, in UL Arena at 8pm after weeks of controversy following their quarter-final victory.
Eagles originally won their quarter-final against Portlaoise Panthers on Saturday, March 23 with Jason Killeen slotting two free throws on the final buzzer.
This victory was appealed by Portlaoise on the grounds that the free-throw shots should not have been permitted as the clock had expired at the same time that the foul had been called.
Eagles were then in-turn notified that their semi-final had been canceled and had weeks of unknowingness until Basketball Ireland issued a statement last week ordering only 0.3 seconds of the game to be played.
This statement was met with fierce controversy and angry as Eagles would have had to travel back to Portlaoise to play only 0.3 seconds of a game.
Since then Panthers themselves have come out and said they will refuse to play the 0.3 seconds issued by Basketball Ireland and have officially given the win to the Limerick team.
The last time Moy Tolka Rovers traveled to the UL Arena they came away with the 94-86 victory in the league, making tomorrow nights game even more interesting.
The winning team will face cup winners UCD Marian in the final of the Division One trophy on Saturday, April 13.
