TREATY UNITED suffered a third straight defeat in the First Division of the SSE Airtricity League this Friday evening.

The Limerick senior soccer side fell to a 3-2 loss to Wexford FC in Ferrycarrig Park.

Tommy Barrett's side fell two goals down but looked to have snatched a draw thanks to two quick-fire goals from Yoyo Mahdy in the final 10-minutes.

But up popped substitute Cian Curtis to score the winner for the home side in the 89th minute.

Treaty must now regroup to entertain Kerry FC in the Markets Field next Friday, April 12.

On a Ferrycarrig surface that had passed a pitch inspection earlier in the day, the early exchanges were even in what were testing weather conditions for both sides.

Tommy Barrett shuffled his pack - Scott Kirkland and Fionn Doherty coming in from the start along with Lee Devitt, who was returning from suspension.

Doherty was among those to go close for the Limerick side in the early minutes - his diving header going over the crossbar in just the seventh minute.

At the other end, Michael Dike had to be alert in just his second start to save just before the half hour mark.

Indeed Dike again came to the rescue of the away side just before the interval when teenage Wexford attacker Kaylem Harnett was played through one-on-one with the Treaty keeper but he was able for the task to ensure the sides went to the half time dressing room at 0-0.

On a night when Enda Curran wasn't togged out, Treaty did have some late changes in the half - Oisin O'Reilly and Yoyo Mahdy both with shots from distance.

The second half wasn't five minutes old when Wexford found the net and it was cruel on the Limerick side with see captain Ethan Boyle's deflected shot put Wexford ahead on 48-minutes.

Thomas Oluwa went close to doubling that lead but his diving header at the back post went wide on the hour mark.

The first real chance for Treaty in the half didn't arrive until almost the 20-minute mark - another shot from the edge of the box and this time it was Mark Walsh.

Twenty minutes from time, Barrett looked to his bench for inspiration with Mark Byrne, Stephen Christopher and Willie Armshaw all introduced.

But was it was Wexford that soon extended their lead. Kian Corbally with the finish from close range after replacement Darragh Levington created the chance. So 2-0 to Wexford and 79-minutes on the clock.

Within five minutes all had changed thanks to Yoyo Mahdy.

On 81-minutes he brought Limerick back into the contest with a cracking free-kick.

Then within 90-seconds he had the game level.

But there was time for one further twist - Cian Curtis with his first Wexford goal on 89-minutes.

There were four additional minutes but Treaty left the south-east empty handed.
