THE clash of Coonagh Utd and Newport was one of five games played in the Premier League of the Limerick District League over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and sunshine was a welcome addition for supporters and players alike.
Newport picked up three crucial points at relegation threatened Coonagh Utd with a 2-1 victory.
Darren Collins had Newport in the lead at half time and early in the second half, Christy Doyle doubled the lead.
Joey Sheehan reduced the deficit from a free kick and went close again late in the game but Newport keeper Harry Ryan made a crucial save to ensure the win.
