Limerick goalkeeper Carol Bateman and defender Fiona Bradshaw close in on Leitrim's Leah Fox during the Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 4 tie in Ballinamore last month
LIMERICK's ladies football team will face Leitrim in the semi-final of the Lidl National League Division four this Sunday, March 24 at 1pm in Padraig Pearses.
The Treaty women did just enough in their final league game against Carlow to come away with a 1-11 to 1-9 victory, securing their spot in the knock-out stages in the competition, finishing third in the league behind Fermanagh and Leitrim.
Mike Quilligan and Sean Kiely's side have already met Leitrim this season. The Ridge county fought back in a second-half resurgence to claim a 2-11 to 1-7 win over Limerick.
The Shannonsiders have booked their place in semi-finals of the league despite defeats to table-toppers Fermanagh and Leitrim and a draw against Longford. Limerick started their league campaign strongly with wins over Wicklow, Derry and Kilkenny. Leitrim will be an extremely difficult side to beat after gaining wins over Kilkenny, Wicklow, Derry, Limerick, Carlow and Longford, only losing out to Fermanagh by a goal.
Limerick reached the Division Four decider in 2022 losing out to Offaly. They were also unlucky not to reach the 2023 Lidl Ladies National League Final after facing a strong Antrim side in the semi-finals, losing out on a scoreline of 3-16 to 1-11.
The Treaty team was under different management last season in the form of Graham Shine, who guided the Limerick side to the Junior All-Ireland final in Croke Park where they also lost out to Down.
Mike Quilligan and Sean Kiely will be hoping that the wins picked up in this year's National League will stand to them this weekend in Roscommon.
The opposite semi-final will feature top-of-the-table team Fermanagh against Carlow in Lann Léire GAA Club, Dunleer, Louth also on Sunday, March 24 at 2pm.
The winners of these semi-finals will face off in the final on Saturday, April 6.
