Limerick's Cathal O'Neill and Donnacha O'Dalaigh shake hands after their Allianz Hurling League win over Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday evening

LIMERICK hurling manager John Kiely was pleased with his team's performance against Dublin in the Allianz Senior Hurling league in Croke Park and impressed with the ‘energy and the significant improvement from the last day out’ from their previous appearance against Westmeath.
Kiely's clinical side breezed past Dublin on a scoreline of 3-30 to 1-18 in their Saturday evening fixture.
A relatively young inside forward line impressed on the night with Adam English scoring 0-8 (0-3 frees) and Donnacha Ó Dálaigh grabbing 2-1.
Asked about the full-forward line's display, Kiely said: “It was a great opportunity for them to get a game here and to start as well. I think that is a really big piece out of tonight. We had six starters tonight who had never started in Croke Park before.
"That is a huge bank of experience to get in. It is great that they played well and no doubt they would have liked to contribute even more.”
Limerick were without All-Ireland winning captain Declan Hannon and All-Star corner back Sean Finn, who are both coming back from injuries currently.
Kiely said: “They are both doing very well. They are training well and when we feel they are absolutely ready they will play and until they we will just have to wait and see. We aren't quite sure how long that will be but it is in the medium term.”
Kiely also stated he ‘never hesitated’ in selecting Kyle Hayes for the Dublin clash and was ‘impressed’ with his performance on the night, scoring a point from play from wing back.
After this victory at GAA HQ, Limerick have three wins under their belt in the Allianz Hurling league and will face Tipperary next at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on March 9 at 7:35pm.
Kiely said: “We feel we have a good bit of work to get done before then. We will get a good block of work in this week and hopefully we can improve our performance the next day against Tipp, that is one thing we are always looking to do, particularly in terms of our set-up and structure on puck outs.”
Meanwhile, Limerick footballers lost out 0-14 to 1-8 against Westmeath in Division 3 of the Allianz League despite an improved display in Mullingar.
In camogie, Limerick defeated Kerry 3-23 to 1-4 in their Very National Camogie League 1B fixture at Ballyheigue on Saturday.
