ST MUNCHIN'S have booked their spot in the semi-final's of the Munster Senior Schools Cup after a clinical 34-17 victory over Bandon Grammar School at UL North Campus pitches this afternoon.

After this win St Munchin's will play Presentation Brothers Cork in the semi-final of the cup.

Munchin's controlled much of the possession in the opening half before Bandon Grammar hit back in the second-half, but the Limerick's team early lead ultimately gave them the win.

After only five minutes of play Munchin's Adam Cusack finished off an incredible blocked down kick in the corner for their first try with Tom Woods, son of Munster legend Keith Wood, unable to make the conversion.

It took until the 27 minute for another score to arrive off a Tom Wood penalty leaving them 8-0 ahead of their Cork rivals.

Quick thinking from Wood to play the ball back into his team mates instead of waiting for a line-out lead to their second try as Wood's sprinted up the sideline and found Matthew Te Pou inside him to finish of a fantastic try. Wood's was unable to add the extra two points on this occasion.

Bandon Grammar school got their first score of the game on the stroke of half-time from a Rory Golden penalty to leave the half-time score on 13-3.

The Cork side started the brighter of the two in the second-half getting two penalties in a row and choosing to kick to the corner on both occasions.

After 44 minutes they were rewarded with a try from Fionn O'Neill with the conversion from Golden. St Munchin's replied almost immediately to this score with Tony Foley, the late Munster head-coach Anthony Foley's son, charging through the Bandon defence with Tom Wood getting extra two points.

Captain Oisin Minogue, son of Rosie Foley and Anthony's nephew was the next try scorer for Munchin's with a fantastic individual try after 55 minutes. Tom Wood had found his rhythm at this stage and added the extra two points.

Bandon hit right back with a blocked down kick from the re-start from second row Fionn O'Neill, his second try of the game and  Golden adding the conversion to leave them on 17 points.

The final score came from Munchin's Peter Dugan in the corner after a driving maul to seal their win, Tom Woods adding the spoils with the final score ending 34-17.
