Former Munster Rugby Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus
FORMER Munster Rugby coach Rassie Erasmus is recovering in hospital following a medical procedure for chemical burns sustained in a freak accident.
The South African Rugby Union confirmed this Saturday that their Director of Rugby Erasmus had sustained the chemical burns while using a powerful detergent product.
South African Rugby confirmed that Erasmus is otherwise in good health and expected to return to full-time working within weeks.
Joining Munster at the start of July 2016 as the province's Director of Rugby, Rassie Erasmus helped guide the squad to a Guinness PRO12 final appearance and Champions Cup semi-final.

Both Erasmus and the province's Defence Coach Jacques Nienaber departed the province in late 2017 to take up roles with the South African Rugby Union.
The 51-year-old led the Springboks to World Cup glory in 2019 as head coach, while the Springboks' also succeeded in retaining the title in France last autumn.
