Young Munster RFC confirm new head coach ahead of 2023/2024 season

Ger Slattery has been appointed as Young Munster's new head coach

YOUNG Munster RFC has confirmed their new head coach for the 2023/2024 season with Ger Slattery replacing Gearoid Prendergast in the role.

Ger Slattery represented Munsters' as a player for 15 consecutive seasons and has been assistant coach for the past seven seasons.

A dynamic hooker, Slattery has gained a wealth of experience in his playing days, representing a hugely successful Ireland U20’s side, as well as Ireland Clubs XV, Munster Rugby and the Barbarians.

The former club captain at Clifford Park, Limerick man Slattery won four Munster Senior Cup titles, one as a player and three as a coach.

Slattery replaces Gearoid Prendergast in the head coach role. Prendergast has recently taken up the role of Greencore Munster Rugby Academy and Pathway Manager.

Young Munster has also confirmed that Alan Kennedy will be the club captain for a sixth consecutive season.

New head coach Ger Slattery will take charge of Munsters' for the first time in a competitive fixture this Thursday night when facing local rivals Garryowen FC in the Munster Senior Cup at Dooradoyle, 7.30pm.
