LIMERICK sprint hurdler Sarah Lavin's stunning season continued when the Lisnagry woman clocked a personal best of 12.73 seconds in the 100m hurdles at the Diamond League meet in Stockholm on Sunday evening.

Emerald AC athlete Lavin finished in second place in the event behind world record holder and reigning world champion Tobi Amusan. In a high class field, third place went to European champion Pia Skrzyszowska, who finished in 12.78.

The Lisnagry woman's previous personal best of 12.79 was set at last summer's European Championships in Munich.

Lavin's time recorded on a wet night in Stockholm was quick enough to qualify the 29-year-old for next year's Olympic Games in Paris.

Twenty nine-year-old Lavin won a bronze medal for Ireland in the 100m hurdles at the European Games last month.

Lavin’s impressive time of 12.82 was fast enough to earn her a podium place.
